What does a website cost in Amsterdam?

From a one-page site to a web application: what you pay at MDJI, what drives the price and which costs are often forgotten.

The honest answer: it depends on what the site needs to do. A range is possible, though. These are the starting prices at MDJI, excluding VAT.

These are starting amounts. After an intake call you receive a quote with a fixed price, so the total does not change halfway through the project.

Price estimates by size

Want to know roughly where your site will land? These are the guide prices from the price calculator on the services page, excluding VAT.

TypeSmallMediumExtensive
Website 1,250 to 2,500 euros 2,500 to 5,000 euros from 5,000 euros
Website redesign 750 to 1,500 euros 1,500 to 3,000 euros from 3,000 euros

Small means a clear, compact site, medium a site with a few features, extensive a lot of custom work. Web applications and apps vary so much per project that there is only a starting price.

What the price depends on

Three things determine most of the price.

  • The number of pages and how different they are. Ten pages with the same layout cost less than five pages that each work differently.
  • Features that do more than show text, such as a booking calendar, a quote module, a client portal or a link with your accounting software.
  • Who provides the content. Texts and photos that are ready save time. If they still need to be written or made, that counts too.

Costs that are often forgotten

Besides building the site, there are a few recurring costs worth knowing in advance.

  • A domain name. A .nl domain usually costs less than 20 euro a year.
  • Hosting. For a regular company site often between 5 and 25 euro a month, depending on what the site does.
  • Business email on your own domain, if you do not have it yet.
  • Maintenance: updates, security and backups. Without maintenance a site ages and becomes vulnerable.

Ask which of these costs are included in every quote. A low build price with mandatory expensive hosting is not cheap in the end.

How to compare quotes

  • Is there a fixed price, or an hourly rate with an estimate?
  • Is the code yours after payment, including every login?
  • What is included: how many rounds of changes, and is there aftercare after launch?
  • Who is your point of contact, and is that also the person who builds it?

At MDJI you get a fixed price, the code is yours, rounds of changes and aftercare are in the quote, and you talk directly to the builder.

Want to see something first?

If you are unsure whether an idea works, you can start with a working demo for 99 euro. If you go ahead with the full project, that amount is deducted from the quote.
